Abstract:

With a food （cane sugar）, a war（ the Battle of Baekgang）,a book （Ennin _'s The Record of a Pilgrimage to China in Search of the Law） and a map （The Selden Map of China ）,we can explore how an effective historical interpretation helps illustrate and elevate the meaning of historical research. Re-examining Chinese history in the greater world history context not only promises a powerful historical interpretation, but also bridges the two areas of historical study.
